Dr. Colby has been involved in the genetics field for his entire life, first as a patient, then as a researcher, and now as a practicing physician. He has conducted extensive research in the field of advanced clinical genetic analysis, inventing numerous patent-pending technologies that make comprehensive genetic screening understandable, useful, and empowering to both physician and patient. Dr. Colby is also the only practicing physician in the world to have designed a first-of-its-kind DNA Chip. This DNA Chip allows him not only to assess a person's risk for hundreds of diseases and traits at a single time at relatively low cost but also to concurrently provide genetically tailored preventive recommendations to fight against those diseases to which the person is found to be predisposed.
Dr. Colby is also the author of the book Outsmart Your Genes, which discusses the groundbreaking advances made in the field of predictive medicine. The book is written in nonscientific, nontechnical terms in order to make the information it contains easily accessible to everyone, regardless of whether they have any background in genetics or medicine. Outsmart Your Genes has become the definitive layperson’s guide to predictive medicine and genetic testing.
He holds a degree in Genetics from the University of Michigan Honors Program, an MD from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and an MBA from Stanford University's Graduate School of Business. He is licensed to practice medicine in California and New York.
